Scottish Fold
The sweet-natured, folded-ear favorite

The Scottish Fold's forward-folded ears come from a natural cartilage mutation, and give the breed its rounded, owl-like face. They are sweet-natured and adaptable cats, and are well known for sitting in improbable positions.

History
Every Scottish Fold descends from Susie, a white barn cat with folded ears found in Tayside, Scotland, in 1961. The fold is a spontaneous dominant mutation affecting cartilage.
Personality
Sweet-natured, adaptable and quietly companionable. Folds are known for sitting in improbable positions — flat on their backs, or upright with their legs out — which their fanciers call the Buddha sit.
Did you know?
Fold kittens are all born with straight ears. At around three weeks the ears of those carrying the gene begin to fold — and some never do, growing up as Scottish Straights.
