Savannah
The tall, spotted athlete
The Savannah is a distinctive domestic breed whose bold, eye-catching spotted coat closely resembles that of its ancestor, the African serval. Lively and adventurous, it is known as a high-energy cat.

History
A hybrid breed begun in 1986, when the first serval-to-domestic kitten was born and named Savannah. Later generations are bred Savannah-to-Savannah, and the cats become progressively more domestic the further they are from the serval.
Personality
Athletic, interactive and endlessly curious. Savannahs greet people, follow them, take readily to a harness, and play with a determination closer to a dog's. They are not cats for a quiet, static household.
Did you know?
Early-generation Savannahs are among the tallest domestic cats and can clear well over two metres from a standing jump, which makes 'out of reach' a theoretical concept.
The serval, the wild ancestor
These are servals — the African wild cat the Savannah was bred from, photographed in the wild. No serval lives at Pink Paws: our Savannahs are the domestic breed, and you will find them further down this page.
