Ragdoll
The blue-eyed cuddler who goes limp

A big, affectionate cat with a semi-long coat and striking blue eyes, the Ragdoll is among the largest of all recognised breeds. Ragdolls are famously easy-going with children and other animals, dogs included, and many live up to their name by relaxing contentedly while a child carries them around. Sturdy and free of any extreme features, they settle into a busy modern home with ease.

History
Created in California in the 1960s by Ann Baker, from a white longhaired cat called Josephine and her offspring. The breed was tightly controlled in its early years, which is unusual, and the modern Ragdoll descends from a small founding group.
Personality
Famously placid. Ragdolls greet people at the door, follow them room to room and tolerate handling that many cats would not. They are quiet-voiced and generally uninterested in high places.
Did you know?
The name comes from the tendency of many to go completely limp when picked up. Ragdolls are also born white — the points darken in over the first weeks and keep developing for two years.
